While larger businesses with established fleets already understand who Allstar are smaller businesses don’t. Many SME’s are still unfamiliar of the benefits of fuel cards altogether, making education just as important as brand awareness. 

Our challenge was to create a brand-first campaign that convinced small business owners of two things: firstly, that fuel cards can genuinely benefit their business, and secondly, that Allstar is the simplest way to fuel, charge and manage business payments all in one place.  

In a category dominated by rational messaging and undifferentiated proof points, we wanted to break away from the sea of sameness. Rather than relying solely on functional claims, the ambition was to build a campaign with emotional resonance. Something memorable that connected with the everyday realities of running a small business and positioned Allstar as more than just a fuel card. 

Idea 

The idea was built around a simple human truth: that everyone likes to be appreciated even if they are the boss. We celebrate this and turn boss’s into hero’s for choosing Allstar, making managing the hassle of fuel and EV charging payments a thing of the past.

The campaign brought this to life through a series of exaggerated, awkward hugs across relatable SME settings including a warehouse, office and depot. The hero key visual captured one of these uncomfortable embraces, turning a functional business decision into something emotional, funny and distinctive. Creating a bold asset that stood out across every channel.

We also adapted the creative for radio, using the same humorous tone. The ad featured an employee giving an overly emotional speech at a workplace gathering, passionately thanking their boss for choosing Allstar after recalling how difficult managing fuel and EV payments used to be. Ending with an exaggerated declaration of love for their boss.
