Discovery
ASDA Grocery wanted to transform their existing training for Delivery Drivers from a predominately classroom-based, practical and lengthy PDF guide over a two-week period to a bite-size, engaging online experience. The experience needed to deliver consistency across the board whilst ensuring that key checks and measures were followed alongside delivering the ASDA customer promise of Easy, Fast and Friendly.
Idea
To work with existing content and a dedicated group of subject matter experts within ASDA Grocery, we established a visual concept around the ASDA ‘Think’ programme. Consisting of 8 chunks of micro-learning, accessed across all devices, using a range of media to deliver key messaging and training. Think Online was the hero piece aimed at employees within ASDA grocery, positioning the importance of Online Grocery alongside all aspects of a Delivery Driver’s training – from a day in the life, through to topics such as measurement, customer service and how to build resilience in roles.
A blended approach of videos, animation, interactive exercises and knowledge checks all formed part of the experience for delivery drivers setting them up for success in either their new role or to serve as a refresher for existing drivers.
Branching out into digital was a big step for training within the business so our solution needed to be sympathetic to this and keep the audience always at the heart of the piece.
Impact
By creating engaging and user-friendly learning, the delivery drivers had the opportunity to access quality training quickly, which equipped them with the necessary skills and knowledge. This improved training experience led to increased job satisfaction and retention, which ultimately reduced recruitment and onboarding costs for ASDA.
