THE CHALLENGE
BMW Group’s Podium platform — the digital spec display beside vehicles in showrooms — had become difficult and expensive to maintain. Retailers were deterred by costly Apple hardware and the IT burden of local servers requiring constant security updates. Meanwhile, the platform needed to evolve with better UX, finance integration, and streamlined, centralised control. The existing setup wasn’t built for scale or simplicity.

Idea
We partnered with BMW Group’s retailer IT team to redesign Podium as a cloud-native platform — removing hardware and security bottlenecks while preparing the system for European market scale.
Podium is now compatible with Android tablets, significantly lowering hardware costs. By eliminating on-site NUC servers, we simplified maintenance and boosted platform security. The system was further enhanced with live finance calculators, automated content tools, and a central control layer — giving national sales companies real oversight and flexibility across markets.

IMPACT
- 90% time savings in spec sheet generation
- Full Android compatibility: reduced hardware costs
- NUC server removal: lower security maintenance burden
- Cloud-based control: future-ready and scalable
-
Pan-European rollout potential built into platform structure
Podium now serves as a central pillar of BMW’s Retail Next programme — streamlining how customers access vehicle details and how retailers deliver them.
